Nepali Poems
& Short Stories

Modern Nepali poetry and short fiction. The poems are in Nepali, the stories in English. All of it is free to read, and there is no order you are meant to read it in.

Nepali Poems

Newest first. Most are written in Nepali because that is the language they arrived in, and one or two are in the far-western dialect I grew up speaking. They keep circling the same few things: a house left empty in the hills, a river asked where it went, a country buried in the hollow it was dug from. They are short on purpose. Short Stories

Slower than the poems, and less certain of themselves. Each one turns on a single moment: a drawer opened, a letter never sent. Written in English, and more are on the way. Browse all short stories →
